Bloomin Vendors: Vancouver’s Hidden Flower JackPot…Queensberry Flower Company

We absolutely had to share with you the gem that is Queensberry Flower Company: the little vendor that could, hidden deep beneath the streets of downtown Vancouver in the underground corridors of the Granville SkyTrain station.

Their beautifully arranged pint sized bouquets, perfect for bridesmaids, immediately caught the corner my eye during a recent treck home. What jumped out even more was how reasonably priced these beautiful arrangments were: $10 for a beautiful bouquet!  At that price, even a DIY bride has to ask herself if it’s worth grabbing a dozen more to add some floral to her table arrangements!

Spotlight on Photographers: Spreading the Love for a Good Cause with Juna Photography

A couple of weeks ago we spread the word about 100 Moments of the Love, the wonderful event being put together in support of Vancouver charity Take a Hike,  by the very talented Vancouver based photographer Justin Morrison of Juna Photography.

Today, we are extremely happy to give you a sneak peak of Justin’s endeavours which have benefited this very worthy cause: http://www.junaphotography.com/blog/. To see more of Justin’s work go to www.junaphotography.com.

I am the Walrus!

When planning a DIY wedding and trying to check off the many items on your to-do list, there is no better way to kick off a weekend than randomly setting your sights on the perfect find while browsing your neighbourhood shops!  That’s exactly what happened to us when we stumbled into Walrus on a recent Saturday morning expedition, exploring our new Vancouver neighboorhood!

We were smitten as soon as we laid eyes on Shelley Hilliard’s the poetic neckalces, bracelets and rings.  This Heart Necklace is a beautiful gift idea, perfect for showing  your bridesmaids how much you appreciate all their hard work, kindness and generosity.

For grooms-to-be on a budget looking for the perfect wedding day present for their blushing bride, this necklace by Hilliard is sure to leave a lasting impression. If you are looking to splurge a bit more, the Evelyn Cuff is another unique and breathtaking piece by Hilliard that will serve as a fashionable reminder of your lasting commitment for years to come.

Our Favourite Bridal Party Gifts

Here at Wildflower Weddings, we lovebirds have a soft spot for many of the unique and creative finds on Etsy.  Here are some of our favourite gift ideas for your bridal party:

FOR THE GALS:

Offer these SQUARE KNOT BRACELETS by DobleEle, to your bridesmaids as a fun momento of the day you tied the knot.

Square Knot Bracelet - Natural

Another favourite of ours, these initial pendant necklaces by StellaSalvador, which come in gold or silver. Add an extra pendant with your wedding date for that extra special touch.

Bridesmaids Gold Initial Disc Monogram Necklaces - Set Of 6 Custom Personalized Hammered 14K Filled Necklaces

FOR THE GUYS:

We are completelly in love with the idea of custom map cufflinks for your groomsmen.  You can tailor each set to each groomsmen by having one cufflink display the location where he and your groom first connected, and the other cufflink display the location of your wedding as a wedding day keepsake.  For an extra special touch, choose a cufflink with a metal setting and engrave the back of each cufflink with the groomsmen’s initials.

Custom Sterling Silver Silver (.925) Map Cufflinks

Custom Map Cufflinks by TheBluePrint

Nostalgic Links, out of Vancouver, also offers tons of other fun vintage & handcrated cufflink options for the boys in the wedding party!

Decadent dessert & favour ideas

This past weekend, I stumbled across the gather pop-up shop in Vancouver’s historical Gastown, and discovered Bouchee Cheescakes. Their product, beautiful mini cheesecakes, are absolute mouthfuls of Heaven which can double as perfect additions to any wedding dessert bar or heavenly wedding favours!

Speaking of Heaven, check out this beautiful wedding cake by Morsel based out of Ottawa, Ontario… simply divine and perfect for any retro style wedding (or even a wedding theme inspired by one of our all time favourite romantic movies…remember a Walk in the Clouds ?).
